“Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you.” 2 Timothy 1:6
Over the years, I have always found myself asking God to provide me with something that I believe I lack.
“God, please give me enough money to pay these bills.”
“God, please give me focus and efficiency so that I can get through this work day.”
“God, please give me patience to deal with this jerk-off.”
“God, please give me talent so that I can succeed in this venture.”
It has taken me nearly 33 years to realize that God has already given me everything I need. He saw my whole life laid out before me even before I was born. He knew my triumphs and my struggles. He prepared me to face them all. Everything I need, is already inside of me. I lack nothing. I do not need to ask him for anything – I just need to thank him for his provision.
“God, thank you for paying my bills.”
“God, thank you for giving me focus and efficiency and for getting me through this work day.”
“God, thank you for making me a patient person who is able to keep her cool even though this guy is being a jerk-off.”
“God, thank you for Your incredible gifts which are in me.”
Today, instead of asking God to provide, thank Him for what He has provided. He knows you! He knows what you need. And He has already set it before you. Give Him praise and thanks, and you will see the flame inside of you be lit.
